Colin and I were friends from grammar school thru high school and college. I was his ride to SJU while he was there. He was like part of my family but unfortunately we went our separate ways and I lost touch while he was in FDNY. He could always make me smile and had a contagious energy that he passed on to everyone. The world will be a poorer place without him, My condolences and prayers go out to his wife and family. though we lost touch with each other I have great memories of our friendship.

My sweet, sweet friends, I am so sorry for your loss. Colin affected so many people in positive ways, I know. But something he taught me -- that stays with me constantly -- is the importance of always carrying a complete first aid kit. I started bringing one years ago to Girl Scout meetings, but after Colin's training, I beefed up the Scout bag, and put a second one in my car, where it stays always. That kit, inspired by Colin, has helped so many people over the years, including complete strangers who never knew him. Colin's influence went beyond those he trained in person, and I am very grateful to him for that.

We were just talking about the eclipse and how we would view it both visually and spiritually Colin all set with cardboard w peep hole ( how it was done during 1963 eclipse )and a cow bell to ward off any scary stuff . That was colinalways spreading knowledge w humor. A great human being god will have a welcomed guest .

I believe we all wish to have a life as full as Colin's.He always had a great story and laugh. I worked together with Colin during his time at E37/L40. I missed him after he retired. He brought levity to almost any situation. I wish I could be there to mourn with you but also to celebrate a life well lived. My deepest condolences to Kathy, children, family and friends.

All of those hours you spent with our troop teaching camping skills and how to have fun while learning will ripple out through a generation of young men. When I see you next, let's do a hike in Heaven, okay?
