James “Jay” Marvin Branum went to be with his Maker on February 14, 2018. He loved his Lord, his family, and his friends.
Jay was the son of James “Izzy” Marvin Branum and Lou Higgins Branum. Jay grew up in Brainerd, and was a proud alumni of Castle Heights Military Academy and Cleveland State Community College. He worked at WDEF Channel 12, Qualex, Inc. before owning Bridgeview B&W Photo. Jay was a member of Red Bank Masonic Lodge F&AM, Alhambra Shrine and 32 degree Scottish Rite.
Jay leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife of 43 years, Julia Huddleston Branum; sons: Jason & wife Rebecca; Jack & wife Alicia; and Josh; seven grandchildren: Patrick, Preston, Cierra, Gradie, Avett, Luke & Owen; sisters, Linda McGill & Virginia Branum; and several nieces & nephews. His sister Olivia Patterson preceded him in death.
Jay was an Elder at Ashland Terrace Christian Church where he served in various positions throughout the years. He was also on the Board of Directors at Castle Heights Military Academy.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Chattanooga Kidney Center North. Their attentiveness, professionalism, and kindness greatly contributed to the length and quality of his life.
If you wish to honor his memory, the family requests that you consider becoming an organ donor. Many lives will be impacted by your decision.
Visitation will be held at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace on Saturday, February 17, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, with the service to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Tom Banks and Dr. Carroll Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice, or to Ashland Terrace Christian Church (915 Ashland Terrace Chattanooga, TN).
