Tribute

William Lee Joseph McClure, 88, died February 18, 2020 at home after a long illness. Joe was born at home on September 25, 1931 near Ellijay, Georgia. The family moved to Chattanooga soon afterwards.
Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mable Woody McClure; his father, Jesse Harley McClure; sisters Inez Jolly and Norma Scelera; brothers George Gilbert and Paul McClure; stepson Robert Bradley Rogers; infant granddaughter Jennifer Lee Rogers; and his wife of 64 years, Jesslyn Rowell Rogers McClure.

He is survived by stepson James E. Rogers, Ringgold, Ga.; granddaughter Robin Rogers Roper with husband Ian, and children Amelia, Brice, Jordan, Jedidiah, John with daughter Kennedy, and Jocelyn, Bryson City, N. C.; grandson Jesse Rogers with wife Rebecca and children Aiden Collins and Alexander Joseph, Ringgold, Ga.; and a bazillion nieces and nephews and more cousins than there are stars in the sky.
Joe graduated Chattanooga high school in 1949, served in the US army during the Korean conflict, and studied electrical engineering at U. C. and U. T. Knoxville. He worked several years for M. M. Hedges Manufacturing Co. in Chattanooga and for Crane Co. in Chattanooga and Houston. He retired from Wm. Powell Valve Co. of Cincinnati, Ohio after 28 years of service and he and Jesslyn returned to Chattanooga. The family is grateful to Hearth Hospice for compassionate care.

Visitation will be Saturday February 22, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Lane Funeral Home~ Ashland Terrace. Funeral Services will follow in the Coulter Chapel. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
