William Joseph Cooper

William “Bill” Cooper returned home on Thursday, April 5. Surrounded by his family, he fought for months against the cancer that finally exhausted him. Bill worked in the financial industry all his life, and was President of League Central Credit Union for more than 25 years. But more importantly, he served faithfully as an Elder and former Board Chairman at Ashland Terrace Christian Church, where he was so grateful to be a part of a loving and supportive church family.

Bill is preceded in death by his father Sam, mother Imelda, and brother Sam. He is survived by his wife Kay, children Leah Cooper and Sam Cooper (Lauren), and grandchildren Liam and Brenna. He is also survived by sisters Betty Kersteins (Roy), Ann Chandler (Lance), and Jo Cooper.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, April 8, from 2 – 4 PM at Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga. A Memorial Service will follow immediately at 4 PM.

Finally, Bill would want you to know that he has just finished a spectacular dinner of roast beef, mashed potatoes, and rhubarb pie in his Momma’s kitchen, and is headed out to the lake where his dad has the fishing boat ready to go.
