Vernon C. Smith

Vernon C. Smith, 88, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018.

Vernon was born and lived in Chattanooga all of his life. He Graduated from Red Bank High School in 1947. Vernon was a loyal member of Red Bank Lions Club and served as President during 1984-1985. He was a Member of Red Bank Methodist Church and attended the Shaw Murray Class. Vernon has given over 48 gallons of O- blood during 386 visits to the Chattanooga Blood Bank.
Vernon was preceded by wife Catherine Miles Smith; parents John Y. and Annie Torbett Smith; four siblings.
Vernon is survived by his daughters Sandy (John) Sharp Finck and Tracy (Rodney) Wooten; grandchildren Justin (Marilyn) Sharp, Logan, Evan and Abigail Wooten; great grandchildren Malia and Emma Sharp; sister Annie Rita Smith Culp; many cousins and special friends over the years.

Thanks and gratitude to the many staff of Health Center of Standifer Place and Summit View Apartments who have helped care for him over the years. He had a heart of gold and gave to so many in need.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 5, 2018 from 10-12 noon at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace
Funeral service for Vernon will be conducted at 12 noon Monday in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Don Smith
Interment on Tuesday at 10:30 at Chattanooga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
