Thomas “Tommy” Ray Dodd, 84, of Red Bank, died Saturday, February 20, 2021 unexpectedly at his home. Mr. Dodd was born November 22, 1936 in Rhea County, to Lawrence Ray and Geneva (Sharpe) Dodd. Tommy graduated from Harrison Chilhowee Baptist Academy in 1954. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and an active member of White Oak Baptist Church for 52 years where he served as usher and other various committees. Mr. Dodd served the city of Red Bank as Councilman, Vice Mayor and Mayor from 1977-1985. Tommy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Bishop Dodd, daughter, Gina (John) Waldrop of Murfreesboro, grandson, Nicholas (Koehler) Waldrop of Oriental, NC, granddaughter, Mary Beth (James) Hayes, of Smyrna and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Grace Hayes and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents and sister, Louis Jean Green Hammers. Funeral Service will be 11:00am, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at White Oak Baptist Church. Graveside service to follow at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Pastor Tony Wilson, Rev. David Burkhart, and Rev. John Trewhella officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Drive, Red Bank, Tennessee 37415.
