Thelma Mae (Rothwell) Schlicher

Thelma Mae Rothwell Schlicher, age 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 25, 2022 surrounded by family in Brentwood, TN.  Born in Bledsoe County, TN, she most recently lived in Kingston and Murfreesboro, TN. 

Most of Thelma’s life was dedicated to the well-being of her family as a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was an award-winning porcelain artist, completing hundreds of pieces of china and tile artwork.  She also advocated for the humane treatment of animals as a member of various organizations which rescues them. 

Thelma was preceeded in her heavenly home by her parents, Sidney and Alice Rothwell; husband, Lewis Ross Schlicher; son, U.S. Ambassador Ronald Lewis Schlicher; brothers, Sidney and Tom Rothwell; and sisters, Irene Owens, Ellen Johnson, Barbara Mays, Aline Hatfield Shavers and Sue Webb.  She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Arthur) Rankin; son, Mike (Darlene) Schlicher; sisters Joyce Miller and Ruby Rice; brother-in-law Gary Webb; grandchildren Lee (Kelly) Rankin, John (Elizabeth) Schlicher, Katie (Donovan) Grigsby and Michael Schlicher; great-grandchildren Savannah Chapman, Ethan Rankin, Carter Rankin, Bailey Birkett, Abigail Grigsby, Andrew Grigsby, James Schlicher and Caroline Schlicher; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday April 2, 2022, at 2:00 PM, at the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Cranmore Cove Cemetery in Dayton, Tennessee

The family will receive friends Saturday from 12 Noon until the hour of the serviced at the funeral home
