Sarah Lucille (Cox) Cass, 79, died peacefully on May 8, 2021 after a short battle with breast cancer. Born in Chattanooga, TN. Sarah was a 1960 graduate of City High School and shortly after graduation she met Paul Cass. After a whirl-wind romance they married in 1961 and were married for 51 years. Paul was in the United States Air Force, making Sarah a military spouse. During that time they were stationed in Arkansas, Texas, Maine, Okinawa and Japan. Upon Paul’s retirement, he accepted a job overseas where they lived in Saudi Arabia for several years and traveled to Greece and Cypress. They later returned to live in Chattanooga. Sarah was a long-term employee of Kleen-a-Matic Dry Cleaners on Brainerd Road where she enjoyed working alongside her colleagues and interacting with customers. In her spare time, she enjoyed taking care of her cats, word puzzles, attending family gatherings and watching cooking and “murder” shows on TV. She was also an avid shopper and she did more than her fair share to make sure QVC, HSN and UPS stay in business. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Cass and parents, Alfred and Frances Cox. She is survived by a daughter, Anna (Robert) Lane, of Hixson, TN; son, Scott Cass, of Ft. Worth, TX; brothers, Bob (Eva) Cox, of Ft. Worth, TX and Bill (Patty) Cox, of Hixson, TN; grandchildren, Cassie Lane, of Nashville, TN and Dustin (Laurren) Lane, of Los Angeles, CA. She was also eagerly awaiting the birth of her first great-grandchild due July, 2021. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 5-7pm at Lane Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 1:00pm, Thursday, May 13, 2021 in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Those wanting to process to the cemetery on Thursday can meet at the funeral home at 12:00pm, otherwise you may meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Chattanooga in Sarah’s Honor.
