Roy J. Barnette

Roy Junior Barnette, 73, of Hixson, passed away October 25, 2020 at home.  Roy was born to the late Lloyd and Hersie Barnette on April 23, 1947 in Norwalk, OH.  He was raised in Michigan and joined the US Army in 1967 with the 101st Airborne and a veteran of the Vietnam War.  Roy retired from the City of Chattanooga after 23 years of faithful service.  Roy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Naomi and Ersie Lee; brothers, Miles and James; and his wife of 40 years, Deborah.  Roy leaves behind daughter, Hersie Beaton; son, Stephen (Jennifer) Barnette; sister, Irma Rose; grandchildren, Amanda (Lloyd) Barnette, Cody (Brittany) Shrum; the “light of his eyes” great-granddaughter, Rarri (Dakota (Brakebill) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.  Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday, October 28. 2020.  Funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, October 29, 2020 with procession for interment to follow at 1:00 pm in Chattanooga National Cemetery.
