September 28, 1945 ~ December 31, 2018 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Tribute

Richard “Dick” Frederick Salisbury, 73, of Hixson, TN, passed from this life on December 31, 2018. He was born September 28, 1945, to Harry and Marguerite Salisbury in Atlanta, GA, but he grew up in Maple Heights, OH. He earned an undergraduate degree in Physics from Carnegie Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Journalism from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His first job took him to Orlando, FL, where he worked for Martin-Marietta.

It was there in Orlando that he met the love of his life, Emile Beavers. After dating for a year, the two were married February 26, 1971. Later they moved to Knoxville, TN, but after only a few years, the family moved to Chattanooga in 1984. Dick worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority in community relations until his retirement in 2002.

For the last 22 years, Dick served the Hixson/Clear Creek Church of Christ as an elder. This was a position very close to his heart and one he thoroughly enjoyed. It was his joy to love and serve the members of the congregation. Second only to his love for God was his love for his family. Dick leaves behind his wife Emile, son David (Heather) Salisbury, daughter Karen (Ryan) Johnson, six grandchildren, and a sister, Carolyn (Joe) Kinville.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 4 at 3:00pm at Clear Creek Church of Christ at 5612 Hixson Pike in Hixson, TN with Josh Diggs, Bobby Golden, and David Salisbury officiating. The family will receive visitors starting at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Boyd-Buchanan School or the Clear Creek Church of Christ.
