Richard Dale Neely, 68, of Leesburg, Florida, died April 4, 2018, in a tragic automobile accident in Sumter County, Florida.
He was born on May 22, 1949, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late George and Lillie Bell Neely. He graduated from Chattanooga High School. A Christian since age 11, he was a Southern Baptist and earned a theology degree from Baptist Bible Institute in Graceville, Florida. He was most proud of participating in a mission trip to Burkina Faso in Africa while at Red Bank Baptist Church. He was vice president of manufacturing at PELLON Consumer Products (PCP Group, LLC) in Saint Petersburg, Florida. He served in the Tennessee Air National Guard. An avid amateur radio operator, his call sign was K4SON, and he was a member of ARRL, the National Association for Amateur Radio and the Lake Amateur Radio Association in Leesburg, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Leigh (Laquita) Sanders Neely; his daughter, Stephanie Neely Boyt of Villa Rica, Georgia; his sons K. Dale Neely (Stacie) of Tallahassee, Florida, and Scott Neely (Tina) of Weybridge, England; four wonderful grandchildren, Sam, Jack, Myla and Caleb; his brothers, George Neely (Shirley) and William Neely (Catherine) of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and his beloved nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Dorothy T. Sanders, and brother-in-law, Lyle Sanders, of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lake Amateur Radio Association, 11146 Springdale Ave., Leesburg, FL 34788.
A memorial service will be 3:00 pm Saturday, April 28 at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415 with Dr. Fred Steelman officiating.
