Nancy M. Cobb, 92, of Chattanooga, TN, peacefully departed this earthly realm on November 8, 2023. Born on March 17, 1931, in the humble town of Pinson, AL, Nancy, a woman of deep faith, embodied the virtues of humility, gratitude, and respect for all of creation. Her unwavering commitment to her beliefs and her unwavering dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered and cherished.
Nancy was a devoted prayer warrior, channeling her boundless energy into serving others. She tirelessly lent her compassionate heart and helping hands to the Lady Shriners, ensuring that those in need received the care and support they deserved. Additionally, Nancy's fervent devotion extended to her beloved church family and her own cherished kin, whom she treasured above all else.
Left to carry forward Nancy's legacy are her daughters, Carolyn Richards (Bob), Nancy Barnett (Lefty), and Charles Cobb (Vivian), along with 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brother, Dr. Marcus F. Martin, and sister, Pana Norred (Dr. Robert), and her sister-n-law Betty Ware, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were touched by Nancy's love and wisdom. She now joins her beloved husband, Howard Cobb, her sister, Jane Lamb and her brother, Dr. Elliott Martin, in eternal rest, having been preceded in death by them.
Throughout her fruitful life, Nancy exemplified the true essence of service, dedicating her career to nurturing young minds as a pre-school teacher at Highland Plaza United Methodist. Her profound impact on the lives of countless children will forever be remembered and cherished.
Nancy's spiritual journey found its home in the hallowed halls of Hixson United Methodist Church. It was within this sacred space that she found solace, strength, and a profound connection to the divine. Her unwavering faith, rooted in humility and gratitude, guided her every step and provided her with a sense of purpose and serenity.
Outside of her devoted service and spiritual pursuits, Nancy found joy and fulfillment in her hobbies. Quilting, sewing, and baking were not mere pastimes but acts of love and creativity. Her handcrafted creations, especially those made for church sales, served as a testament to her boundless generosity and her desire to contribute to the well-being of others.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Sunday, November 12, 2023 at Lane Funeral Home with funeral services following at 2:00pm in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Dr. Chuck Starks will be officiating. Interment will be private at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
In honor of Nancy's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Highland Plaza Methodist Pre-School or Hixson United Methodist Church. By supporting these causes that were dear to Nancy's heart, we can carry on her legacy of selflessness and compassion.
