Mrs. Sara Rutemeyer

Sara Timothy Rutemeyer passed away Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the age of 87. 

Sara was preceded in death by her parents, William Humphrey Timothy and Mary Rose Ribe Timothy, and her sisters, Mary Timothy Varnell and twin sister Betty Timothy Hunt. 

Sara is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale Rutemeyer, son Tim (Cindy) Rutemeyer, daughter Ellen (Ken) McCollum, and grandchildren Will (Liz) Rutemeyer, Mary Ellen Rutemeyer (Nick Seay), Allison McCollum and Andrew McCollum.

Sara was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and attended St. Jude Catholic Church.   She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and the University of Chattanooga, where she was a member of Chi Omega Fraternity and was inducted into Alpha Society.   In the mid-1970’s, Sara began a 30-year career in public accounting, and in the mid-1980’s she passed the Certified Public Accountants Exam.  She was an avid fan of all UTC athletic teams and spent many happy hours in the bleachers cheering for the Mocs.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the Dominion Senior Living staff for the love and support showered on Sara during the past year.  We are also very grateful for the amazing care she received from the nursing staff of Hearth Hospice.

A memorial funeral mass will be held Wednesday August 10, 2022, at 12:00 noon at the St. Jude Catholic Church.  The family will receive friends in the parish hall one hour prior to the service.
