Marvin Jay "Sonny" Griffin "God knew me in my Mother's womb and had this appointed time to take me home. Jesus took me by the hand and said, Father, this is Sonny Griffin. He is not perfect but he is one of mine. And in that instant I was transformed into my spiritual body for eternity. Do you know my Jesus?" Sonny was born in Alto, GA on June 3, 1934. He met the love of his life Judy at Dublin High School. They were married for 60 years.Those who will miss him include his wife, Judy, Sons, daughter in laws, grandchildren, sister and family: Mike, Kim, Julia, and Graham Griffin...Phil, Tracy, Faith Griffin, Bethany and husband Jordan Butler, Payton and husband Nich Mowery...Tom, Monica, Alex and Emma Sofia Griffin. Sister Joann Clements, nephew Tad Clements and niece Vicki Hughel.
He has friends all over the world that he met while serving in the army military police in Austria and Germany, sales associates first at the Ernest Holmes Company, then helping Jerry and Bill Holmes start and grow Century Wrecker Corporation, and finally Miller Industry where he served as Executive Vice President. There were many accomplishments through his 85 years but his doctorate was in people. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church for 45 years and more recently The Church at Grace Point in Cleveland, TN where his son Phil is the pastor. The family appreciates the nurses and doctors at the CCU in Memorial Hospital and Hospice Of Chattanooga Mt. View Team.
Visitation will be 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Friday March 1, 2019 at the Red Bank Baptist Church, with the service to follow at 6:00 p.m.
