Martha C. Waller, 86, of Chattanooga, passed away Saturday, January 11th, 2020. Martha was born August 15, 1933 and was the youngest of 5 children of parents, (late) John and Edna Ann (Dugger) Carpenter. She was a graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Music. She was a retired teacher of Hamilton County Department of Education. Martha was a talented musician, and everyone loved to hear “Miss Martha” play the piano. She also was delighted to play cello for the Chattanooga Symphony. Martha loved to read books and work all types of puzzles. She was a long-time volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, The Chattanooga Theatre Center, and counselling the elderly with annual tax returns. She will be forever remembered for her giving soul and her willingness to help others. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Waller, son, Randall K. Waller; brothers; Jimmy, Ralph and Horace Carpenter, sister, Mary Francis Leslie. Her survivors include son, Larry (Pam) Waller; daughter, Linda Waller; grandchildren, Stacy (Brian) Gooden; Anthony (Jessica) Waller; and Connie Waller; great grandchildren, Aidan and Owen Gooden, Bryson and Abby Waller, Cameron Medrano and Coy Haggard; several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Hearth Hospice or Ronald McDonald house. The family is very grateful for the loving care given by Regency House and Hearth Hospice. Visitation will be held from 4-8pm January 13, 2020 at Lane Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11am January 14, 2020 in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral with interment to follow at Hixson Cemetery.
