Tribute

Marilyn Ann Wilhoite Anderson, 95, passed into the presence of the Lord on July 15, 2021 after a brief illness. She was in the loving care of her son at her home with the support of Hearth Hospice and Home Instead at the time of her passing. She was the daughter and middle child of the late Clyde and Ruby Duncan Wilhoite. She is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Anderson and daughter Debra, and survived by her son, David of this city. Marilyn was born in Mansfield, Ohio on August 20, 1925. She graduated from Dade County High School in 1941 and married Virgil M. Anderson in 1946. She was a secretary, and held a variety of positions over her 46-year career, most notably as the Dupont Elementary School secretary for 25 years. A dedicated and faithful Christian, Marilyn was a 60+ year member of the White Oak Baptist Church in Red Bank. Her faith was central to her life, and demonstrated her commitment to Jesus Christ in a variety of ways, primarily by teaching Sunday School virtually her entire tenure at White Oak Baptist, to ages ranging from college to the most senior classes. Her personal interests ranged from personal Bible study to antiques to flower gardening. David would like to express his thankfulness and appreciation to the various members of the Memorial Hixson medical staff who dedicated themselves to Marilyn’s care and their kindness, responsiveness, determination, and formidable expertise and to her neighbors, the White Oak Baptist staff, and other friends who supported Marilyn with such love and caring during this time.  Marilyn’s life will be celebrated and she will be interred with her husband at the Chattanooga National Cemetery in a private service on Thursday, July 22, 2021. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the White Oak Baptist Church, The Chattanooga Heart Institute, or CHI Memorial Hixson.  Arrangements entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415 www.lanefh.com 423-877-3524
