Be the first to offer your condolences on Kelley's Tribute Wall
Kelley Jones Veazey, 72, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021, at a local hospital.
She was the daughter of Raymond Jones and Frances Walters and was preceded in death by her son, Matthew Veazey.
She was a graduate of Red Bank High School, a member of Second Presbyterian Church, and retired as a departmental secretary at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Throughout her life she was an advocate for the environment and animals. She campaigned against roadside littering in the Chattanooga area and was a member of the local chapter of the Sierra Club for many years. She also provided a loving home for so many rescue dogs over the years. After the loss of her son, Matthew, she turned her grief into a comforting force for others who had lost their loved ones too soon.
Survivors include her husband, William Veazey of Signal Mountain; brother, Dan (Reta) Jones of Jefferson City, TN; son, David Veazey of Ringgold, GA; and grandsons, Beckett Veazey and Bly Metcalfe.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday November 17, 2021, at 5:00 PM from the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please consider going to your local shelter or rescue organization and adopting a pet in her memory.
