Keith Wiseman, 94, passed from this life on February 3, 2021. He was born on December 13, 1926 to Ralph and Blanche Wiseman of Noblesville, Indiana. The family with his brother, Ralph Jr, soon moved to Wichita, Kansas where the brothers attended school.
While a teenager in Wichita, Keith, his brother Ralph and mother Blanche attended an evangelistic series that his Dad found, they were baptized and became Seventh day Adventist Christians. This decision was life determining in many good ways. Keith graduated from Enterprise Academy in 1944, and then joined the US Army where he defended the USA during World War 2 as a medic onboard a troop transport ship.
After serving with honor, he was discharged in 1946, and resumed his higher education attending Union College in Nebraska, where he earned his BS in history, and then eventually the University of Arkansas where he earned his Masters Degree in Education.
While serving as a school principal in New Orleans, Keith was introduced by one of his best teachers to her life-long girlfriend, Helen Laverne Keith, who yes had the same last name as his first name! It was very much love at first sight! They were married on June 5, 1955, and began a lifetime of love and devotion that brought forth 3 kids, Marcia Wiseman Bowen, Ken Wiseman, and Tami Wiseman Tishaw.
Then their joy was multiplied with 3 cherished kids in love who married Keith & Helen’s kids, David Bowen, Cindy Bietz Wiseman, and Bobby Tishaw. Joy grew as 6 precious grandkids came into this world: Dusty & Tiffany, Brent & Chase, Cody & Abby. Joy became complete with the addition of 5 great grandkids and counting!
During his career as an educator, Keith served as a principal and teacher in various schools across several states. He was respected and appreciated by many students. One example received after his death says, “Your Dad was the top Bible teacher and one of the best teachers at Campion. He reflected what a Christian is!” The on-going outpouring of hundreds of people who have known and been taught by Keith Wiseman echoes these sincere heartfelt words.
Transitioning in 1976 from education to full time ministry, Keith began a career as a Gospel Minister for the Seventh day Adventist Church from 1976 – 1989. Retiring from full time, he became a Chaplain for The Samaritan Center in Ooltewah, where he helped families in crisis and persons in need throughout the greater Chattanooga area for 15 years.
Keith was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Helen Laverne Wiseman, just 7 months before he too fell asleep in Jesus on February 3, 2021. The final Scripture Keith enjoyed the morning of his passing was Psalms 37. “The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken…for the Lord loves the just and will not forsake His faithful ones…the Lord, He is their stronghold in time of trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them….”
