Johnnie “Cookie” King Tate, 78, died Sunday April 25, 2021 at her home in Red Bank, TN, where she lived for most of her life. She is preceded in death by husband, Jimmy Dee Tate, mother, Ola Mae King and father, John Veldie King, brothers, Bob Austin and Sammy King, granddaughter and Jillian Laura Gorman. She leaves behind loving children; daughters, Misty (Carlton)Boudreaux and Vicky Jordan, son, Chad Tate and fiancé (Jennifer Hubbard), ten grandchildren, Jeffery Gorman (Corrine Oglesby), Chase Tate, Nicholas (Ashley) Gorman, Taylor Gorman, Hillary (Meghan), Jordan, Gabrielle Gorman, Hunter Tate, Hollye Tate, Hannah Tate, two great-grandchildren, Mason Gorman, Riley Gorman as well as several nieces and nephews. Born December 25, 1942 in Chattanooga, TN. She retired from Provident and Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance companies. Johnnie’s greatest joy in life was her family and close friends whom she called family. She loved spending time with them at the beach and at home. We are taking great care of her precious constant companion Jackson, the little white Malti-Peek that rarely left her side. A celebration of her life (memorial service) is being held on Sunday May 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. on the lawn of the beautiful Historic Dent House, 6178 Adamson Circle, Chattanooga, TN 37416.
