John Wesley Sexton, Sr., born in Ocala, FL to Edgar A. and Annie Lee (Royal) Sexton on February 21, 1939, passed away on August 23, 2020. He was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. John was an Air Force Veteran, stationed in Charleston, S.C. where he met his wife, Mary and raised his family. His love of the mountains had him move his family to Chattanooga in 1975. After his wife Mary passed he remarried to Martha. John loved his family immensely and was easy, funny and kind. He always had a smile for everyone. He also lived for his work as a truck driver for Marathon Oil, and truly loved his occupation. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Woods Sexton, wife, Martha Bush Sexton, brother, Chester Sexton, sons, John W. Sexton Jr. and Brian Scott Sexton, step-son, Larry Exum. He is survived by: sister Linda Sexton (Len) Smith, daughters, Caryn Horne, Kristina Reeves (David), Anne Turner (David), step children, Gigi Exum Johnson (Alex), Joseph Exum, 15 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2020 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Lane Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 10:00 am in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home. Or by visiting
