John Robert Booth

John R. Booth, 73, formerly of Chattanooga, recently moved to Knoxville. He passed away on Saturday May 29, 2021, at home surrounded by his family. John was a loving husband to Nancy Booth for 50 years. He was a wonderful father to three children, Suzanne (Walt) Hillis, Gina (Josh) Cole, Jonathan (Cala) Booth. He was a loving grandfather to 10 grandchildren, Nathan, Isaac and Maddie Hillis, Justin, Peyton and Mason Dowdy, Madhi Cole, Dale and Massey Booth. John has one surviving sibling, Karen (John) Sills of Arlington, TN. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Bob and Betty Booth of Chattanooga, brothers, Mike Booth and Thomas Booth and granddaughter Skylar Dowdy. John was a graduate of Brainard High School and answered the nation’s call to serve during Vietnam. He successfully retired from the Navy in 1988 and a Purple Heart recipient. After his military career, he went on to retire from Dalton Optometry Group in Dalton, GA. John was a faithful member of Red Bank Church of Christ for many years prior to moving to Knoxville. John loved his family passionately and was always ready to help anyone in need, he will be missed terribly. Visitation will be held 5-7 PM Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Lane Funeral Home. Funeral Service immediately following at 7 PM. Burial with full military honors will be 1 PM, Friday, June 4, 2021 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919.
