Joe Kelley

Joe W. Kelley, 78, of Chattanooga passed away surrounded by his beloved children on Thursday, June 25, 2020 after an extended illness. He was born in Winchester, Tennessee to Rev. Raymond and Stella (Bean) Kelley. He graduated from Red Bank High School 1959 and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He had a lifelong love of music and directed or participated in church choirs from his youth. He woke each day humming a song and was known for his kindhearted and welcoming spirit. Joe dearly loved his family and many friends and enjoyed hunting. He was described as a superb fisherman by anyone who went with him to “wet a line”. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Clifford Kelley. He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Steve) Harwood and Lisa Kelley, son, Barry (Anne) Kelley, grandchildren, Rebecca Harwood and Mason Kelley, former spouse and mother of his children, Barbara (Lackey) Kelley, nephews and other extended family. Visitation will be Sunday June 28, from 5-7 pm at Lane Funeral Home and Monday, from 1-2 pm at Lane Funeral Home with the service to follow at 2:00 pm in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
