Jesse Michael Hankins of Chattanooga died on August 9, 2021. He was born to Jesse Aaron and Faye (Minton) Hankins in Pikeville, TN on May 25, 1970. Michael was a member of St. Elmo United Methodist Church. He met his future husband, George Hixson, in 2010 and they were married at St. Elmo UMC in 2016. Michael received his bachelor’s degree and his masters in education from UTC with a 4.0 grade average, he would settle for nothing less. He was just starting his doctorate program in education when God called him home. Michael loved teaching in the Special Education Dept. with Hamilton County, he was currently at Ooltewah High School and East Ridge Middle School prior to that. He loved his students and his co-teachers and fellow educators. Michael threw his heart and soul into everything he did. Michael was preceded in death by his mother and father, Jesse Aaron and Faye Hankins, sister, Tammy Hankins Angel and nephew, Nicholas Angel. He is survived by his husband, George Hixson, nephew, Aaron Wendel (Jennifer) Angel, niece, Shelby Angel, great-nephew, Weston Angel, great-niece, Nicolette Angel and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The Hixson family loved him greatly and considered him one of their own. Michael will be missed by many who knew and loved him. Visitation for Michael’s Celebration of Life will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Lane Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 PM in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home.
