Jean Lutes Buckshorn of Signal Mountain, TN and Davenport, FL died January 19, 2018. She was 98 years old. She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, and sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Stella Lutes; her husband, Bradford H. Buckshorn; two brothers Dr. Marvin Lutes, Dr. Thomas G. Lutes, and a sister, Mary L. Schmidt.
She is survived by her son and daughters including Bradford H. Buckshorn, Jr. (Nancy); Bonnie Coolidge (Charles); Beverly Brewer (Henry); Barbara Carrier (Robert); eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara L. Ransler and Ann L. Myers; and her beloved Griselda.
Jean was a talented and much loved teacher at Missionary Ridge Elementary School, and both the elementary and junior high schools on Signal Mountain. She was also quite active at her Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church where she was honored and chosen Woman of the Year by the Women's Circles. She spent her latter years in the orange groves of sunny Florida with her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Henry Brewer.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church , on January 25 at one o'clock in the afternoon. Visitation with family and friends will follow at the church. A private burial will be at a later date in Chattanooga Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church or the Stella Thompson Lutes (Jean's mother) Scholarship Fund, Eastern Kentucky University, 521 Lancaster Ave., Richmond, Ky, 40475.
