Welcome to the memorial page for

James E. Kyle

April 1, 1952 ~ July 29, 2017 (age 65) 65 Years Old
James “Jim” Earl Kyle, age 65, of Hixson, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017 at a local hospital. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Jim was born the son of James Henry Bartee and Trixie Imogene Kyle on April 1, 1952 in Tacoma, Washington on McCord Air Force Base. He grew up on SAC bases across Texas and Newfoundland, Canada as the son of an Air Force Sergeant. He learned to handle guns and shoot skeet from his dad. Summers were spent shooting jack rabbits, hunting horny toads and helping on his grandparent’s farm in eastern New Mexico and west Texas.
Life’s circumstances took him to Ohio where, in the seventh grade, he met his future wife, Barbara. After graduating high school, they married in July 1970. Jim worked for Penn Central Railroad for a couple of years before starting his law enforcement career with Pinkerton Detective Agency.
From there he worked for Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for 5 years and Erlanger Police Department for 3 years before beginning, as a Patrolman, his nineteen year career and retiring as a Detective Lieutenant at the Red Bank Police Department. During his law enforcement career he worked with local, county, state and federal agencies to protect and serve the innocent citizens of our community.
His commitment to the Children’s Advocacy Center over the last 7 to 8 years of his career was his passion, as he viewed these crimes the most heinous against the most innocent of our citizens. During his retirement, he worried about the children, but still he enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, golf, growing pepper plants, and improving his home for his family.
He is preceded in death by his father, James H.B. Kyle; sister, Sheila Ansie Kyle; grandparents, Reinhold and Ruby Steinbock and James Earl and Alice Kyle; step-brother, Wally Shawn Wright; and step-father, Walter Wright.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; son, James H.B. Kyle and wife Arwen; grandson, Hunter Kyle; granddaughter, Autumn Kyle all of Hixson, TN.; mother, Trixie Wright of Katy, TX; half-sister, Tonya Morgan and husband Jeff Emerson of Houston, TX; half-brother, Byron Schleich, wife Sandy and son Alex of Davie, Fl; half-brother, Brad Wright and wife Julie of Katie, TX; step-father, Thomas Schliech of Orange Park, FL; and adopted brother from years ago, Paul Holloway of Ooltewah, TN.
A celebration of Jim’s life, with friends and memories, will be held at the home of his son, James H.B. Kyle, 4808 North Eldridge Road, Hixson, 37343 on Friday, August 4, 2017, beginning at 4:00 pm. Please bring a dish or dessert for a pot luck dinner/picnic. Lawn games and laughter as we celebrate the life of Jim Kyle.
