James A. Horton

James “Jim” Aaron Horton, 89, of Lookout Valley, went to be with the Lord January 7, 2021. He was born on June 1, 1931, the son of (the late), James Quillen and Lois Mae (Williams) Horton and lived in Lookout Valley for the last 64 years. He retired from Combustion Engineering after 35 years of service. He was a long time member of Tiftonia Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member and served on the deacon board for 57 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, J.B. Horton and before her death on April 24th, 2019, his focus was spending time with his beloved wife of over 50 years, Virginia “Jenny” Horton and waiting for the day to be reunited with her. Survivors include his two sons, Johnny (Julie) Horton of Augusta, GA and Jim (Kyla) Horton of Chattanooga; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ina Mae Smith and Edna Elder, both of Chickamauga as well as many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tiftonia Baptist Church Building Fund. There will be a private visitation at Lane Funeral Home. Graveside Service will be at 12pm Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Lakewood Memorial Gardens –West with Bro. Mark Brandon officiating.
