Gordon Scott Hobbs, Jr. (Scotty), owner of Hobbs Construction and a lifelong Chattanooga resident passed away Thursday, March 7th, 2019. Scotty was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Scott Hobbs, Sr., maternal grandparents, James (Jack) and Ruby Cordell, and paternal grandparents A.G. and Grace Hobbs.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly Jackson Hobbs; daughters, Vicky (Dusty) McFarland and Janet Hobbs of Chattanooga; his precious granddaughter, Alyssa; mother, Sandra Cordell Hobbs; sister, Stephanie Cagle; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his faithful dog, Lady.
Scotty spent most of his life in the North Chattanooga area. He lived briefly in Fort Bragg, NC and Hamburg, Germany during his father’s military service. He was a caring individual who helped others and his carpentry skills were used in Bermuda, Florida, and other locations to rebuild after natural disasters.
Scotty was known to many as a kind man with a heart of gold. He was a great dad who strived to share the simple joys in life with his daughters; was a generous, loving, and encouraging uncle to his nieces and nephews; and enjoyed spending time at Ziggy’s with his friends. He will be greatly missed by all.
His family appreciates the many calls, texts, and Facebook posts sharing tributes, photos, and expressions of sympathy.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 10th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
