Gerald C. Wilson

July 30, 1932 ~ June 2, 2022 (age 89)


Gerald C. Wilson, 89, of Red Bank, passed from earth to Heaven on June 2, 2022, to join his wife, Sue, and other beloved family and friends. His family was by his side as he battled Lewy Body Dementia, and his last moments were full of peace and comfort. Gerald was a member of Red Bank Presbyterian Church and enjoyed the Wednesday night dinners prior to covid. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, A Good Conduct Medal; and a Commendation for No Days Lost. Afterwards, he worked at Combustion Engineering until he retired in 1989. He received several honors at Combustion: United Fund Chairman, Safety Committee Chairman, and Chairman of the Machinist Apprentice Committee.

He was a knife dealer for 60 years, attending gun and knife shows throughout the southeast. He had a weekend booth-ZEE Knives-that he operated until he was 86. He was President of the Knot Hole League boy’s baseball where he coached for a number of years. He was also involved in the GALS softball league in various positions where he also coached. Once he was widowed, he became active in the Red Bank Seniors On The Go, serving several years as President. He was active with the Positive Christian Singles and was a big supporter of the Pet Placement Center in Red Bank.

Survivors include his son, Jerrol (Becki) Wilson; daughter, Gina Hembree-Barbour; granddaughter, Staci (Bobby) McGowan; grandson, TJ Cummings; great-grandson, Matthew McGowan; sister-in-law, Norma Cooper; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and close friends.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 11am-1pm at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace with a funeral service to follow in the Coulter Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
