George William Standifer Sr.

George “Bill” Standifer, Sr., 76, of Chattanooga, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 11, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong resident of Red Bank. Bill was an avid outdoors man in his younger days becoming an Eagle Scout at age 14. Bill won the American Legion award while attending Red Bank High School, where he graduated in 1960, afterwards attending Georgia Tech. He was a boxer who participated in Golden Glove matches, a four year Air Force veteran, and a past member of the Red Bank Lions Club and Creeks Bend Golf Course. He retired from Combustion Engineering and was also past owner of Red Bank Used Cars. He was of the Baptist faith. Bill was preceded in death by his parents Jackie and Byron Standifer and brother, Donald Langford. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Carol, son George “Billy” Standifer, Jr. and step-son John A. Gomez and his wife Christina Gomez. Bill will be remembered as a very loving, giving, and supportive husband, father, and step-father who will be greatly missed. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Amedisys Hospice team for their wonderful care and support during their time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the charity of your choice in Bill’s memory. A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held at Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at 2:00 pm.
