Frances Brogdon Thurman

Frances Brodgon Thurman, 84, of Hixson, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born on December 12, 1935 to James and Clara Mae Brogdon. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Fritz Olgiati; brother, George Brogdon; husband, James A. Thurman, Sr. and son, James A. Thurman, Jr. “Jim”. Frances is survived by her daughter, Karen (Griff) Davies; grandchildren, Laura (Jonathan) Maley and Mary (Clark) Hutton; great-grandchild, Clark Hutton; and nephew, Fritz Brodgon. She was a 1935 graduate of Red Bank High School and was on the reunion planning committee for several years. She was retired from the United States Postal Service. After her retirement, she served as a Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteer for many years. Frances was a faithful member of White Oak Baptist Church. Memorials may be made in her memory to White Oak Baptist Church, 310 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415. A celebration of Frances’ life will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, October 5, at Chattanooga Memorial Park with Dr. Tony Wilson officiating.
