Frances Elizabeth Roberts passed away Monday, December 27, 2021. She was a loving mother, wife, and friend to many people. She was a resident of Chattanooga for over 60 years and was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Roberts and her beloved brother Colonel Joe Ottinger and wife Linh of California. Most recently, Elizabeth resided at Red Bank Life Care Center.
Frances grew up in Soddy-Daisy and was active in her church and school programs to include music, plays, basketball, and cheerleading. She married William “Ray” Roberts in 1955 and they remained happily married until his passing in 2012. Elizabeth worked for several insurance companies, attended McKenzie Business College, and worked for Avon for over 20 years.
As a member of First Baptist Church, Golden Gateway, Elizabeth has participated in choir, the Woman’s Missionary Union, and worked in the nursery. She was very close to the women in her Sunday School Class and throughout her life, she was a strong and faithful Christian.
Survivors include daughter Debbie Hixson of Chattanooga; son Bill (Gretchen) Roberts of Chattanooga; three grandchildren: David Hixson, Brittany Roberts Emery (Brandon), Samantha Roberts and nephews, Bill Ottinger and Joe Ottinger of California.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 2 PM from the Coulter Chapel of the Lane Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Rhea Memory Gardens.
