Elmer Timothy Buffington

Elmer Timothy “Tim” Buffington, 67, left this world and was reunited with his wife in heaven on February 1, 2021. Born on October 7, 1953 in Washington DC, Tim was the oldest of five children, and spent his youth in Geneva, FL. He joined the Army in 1978 and served until 1980. He then joined the Navy in 1982 and was proud of how many countries he visited while serving. He met his wife in 1984 in Pascagoula, MS. Tim retired from the Navy in 1990 and settled with his family in Chattanooga, TN. Tim spent his retirement years collecting coins, old toys, painting, and metal detecting. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Buffington, brother, Neil Buffington, and son-in-law, Joseph Plank. Survivors include: Parents, Elmer and Norma Buffington, sisters, Sandi (Shane) Stewart, Mary Ann (Butch) Jalbert, brother, Tommy (Jen) Buffington, daughters, Brittany Buffington and Bethany Buffington, stepson, Erik Oksenholt, stepdaughter, Brooke (Nathan) Lambert, grandsons, Julian Buffington and Tommy Lambert. His Funeral service will be at 2:00pm at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga, Friday, February 12, 2021.
