Tribute

Eleanor Jane Waggoner, She was born among the mountains of West Virginia on January 16, 1932. And passed away on September 1, 2018. When her brothers, James and Hamilton Shields went to serve their country in World War Two, she and her brother Dwight took over the chores of their small farm: plowing, planting, and harvesting. Her sisters Ella Mae and Leota [who is still with us] assisted their mother. A bright girl, she was accepted at Berea College in Kentucky. While visiting her brother she met Lawrence. They got married and moved their young family to the Chattanooga area and made their home. When they retired they stayed much of their time on Summerland Key in Florida. Eleanor enjoyed the warmth and the water and spending much time as a volunteer for the Salvation Army. Eleanor was one of the kindest, most nonjudgmental woman many of us knew. She truly walked in the steps of her Lord and Savior. She loved her children: Jackie Wallace, Gwen Rose [Les] and John Waggoner [Suzanne]. She was truly thrilled when her Grandchildren arrived: Genevie Wallace, Joseph and Ryan Rose (Ashley), and Cody, and Samuel Waggoner. There are now greats arriving and she particularly enjoyed the time she spent with Arwyn LaRock and wished she had had time to spend with Parker, Elodie and Willow. She also was a decades long member of The Red Bank Presbyterian Church. For those who believe, she has entered the Golden Glow of Gods Presence. For others, know that a kind and loving energy has entered the universe. This family wants to extend their gratitude to the staff of Dominion Senior Living and Avalon Hospice. Their care and affection were ever present at the end of her life.
