Tribute

Elaine Woods Viens, 66, of Signal Mountain, TN, passed away September 2nd, after a big, bold life and a courageous battle with Early Onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She is now in the kingdom of heaven, reunited with the love of her life. Children have always been her greatest passion and her greatest joy. She was extremely proud to be Gigi to 3 beloved grandchildren. She worked for more than 40 years, in 3 states, as a Speech Language Pathologist. 

She is survived by her children, Carolyn Wallace of Signal Mountain (Bett Wallace), and Brian Viens of Marietta GA (Emily Ripley Viens); her grandchildren: Elijah Wallace, Lila Ripley, and Clay Viens; her brother Jeff Woods (Melinda Woods) of Colchester, CT; sister Diane, Woods of Manchester, CT; brother-in-law, Tim Viens (Deb Viens); sister-in-law, Claudia Maistrelis (George Maistrelis); as well as nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends both in Connecticut and Tennessee.

She is predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of nearly 30 years, David Viens, as well as her mother and father, Thomas and Constance Woods of Glastonbury, CT.

Elaine lived life to its fullest, never missing an opportunity to be active outside. She completed one full and two half Country Music Marathons benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She also made it her mission to create awareness of the need for blood donations after her husband’s long battle with cancer.

A celebration of life service will be held  Saturday September 30th at 10am at Signal Crest United Methodist Church. Visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Heifer International, one of Elaine’s favorite charitable organizations.
