Richard Edmund Schluessel, MD, FACP, 73, passed peacefully on May 7, 2022, after a brief, acute illness. Subsequently, his career saw him attend to the poor and wealthy alike across three continents, as he gained widespread respect and admiration for his easy way with patients and dedication to healing and saving lives. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund W. Schluessel and Olga Murjahn of New York. He is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Cynthia Ann Conti; and his two sons: Edmund R., a teacher in Helsinki, Finland; and Eric, a professor of history in Washington, DC.
