Donald D. Hamachek, Jr., 75, of Chattanooga, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. He was born April 10, 1943 the son of Don and Annabelle Hamachek in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Whitehaven High School in Memphis, in 1961, and the University of Mississippi in 1965. In 1967 he received a Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He was also a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Following in his father's footsteps, Don spent the next 20 years in hospital management. His interest in technology led him to a career as a consultant with IBM in their healthcare division, and later with Cerner Corporation. Don retired in 2006 and he and his wife Jean enjoyed many wonderful years on Watts Bar Lake in Spring City, Tennessee, boating, fishing, gardening, traveling, listening to music, and spending time with family. He had a zest for life and a personality to match. Don was preceded in death by his parents Don and Annabelle Hamachek. He is survived by his wife, Jean; daughters Gwen Keller (Michael) of Asheville, NC, Courtnay Hamachek and Amy Rochelle (Chad), both from Townsend, TN, and Tracy Roberts (Chad) of Nashville, TN; stepdaughter Kelly Locke (Michael) and stepson Chip Walters (Michelle) both from Chattanooga; sisters Annabelle Ellen Hamachek of Orange Park, FL, Christy Koban (Jack) of Oxford, MS; brother Craig Hamachek (Jan) of Baton Rouge, LA; and 9 grandchildren.
