Donald Wayne Fletcher, 64, passed away at his home in Signal Mountain, TN Tuesday January 7, 2020. He loved the outdoors and was an avid whitewater kayaker, cyclist and hiker – activities that he enjoyed with his wife and son. He was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1955 and grew up in Trion, Georgia. He was a 1973 graduate of Trion High School and 1981 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology. He spent his career working as an engineer at the Tennessee Valley Authority from which he retired in 2008. He was a veteran of the United States Army (1973 – 1976). He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Mary Margaret Fletcher and a sister that died in infancy. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Anna Gray Fletcher and his son, Andrew Wesley Fletcher. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Chattanooga Blood Assurance; Be the Match; American Canoe Association or the Sierra Club. He died of Myleodysplastic Syndrome and, during his treatment, was dependent on blood transfusions. He and his family are grateful to the many people who generously make blood donations.
