Debra Lynn Anderson

July 20, 1954 ~ May 2, 2019 (age 64) 64 Years Old

Tribute

Debra Lynn (Debbie) Anderson, 64, passed quietly into the presence of her Heavenly Father on May 2, 2019. She was in the loving care of her mother and brother at her mother’s home with the support of Hearth Hospice at the time of her passing.

She was the daughter and older child of Marilyn W. Anderson and the late Virgil M. Anderson. She is survived by her mother and brother David, both of this city.

Debbie was born in Chattanooga on July 20, 1954. She graduated from Red Bank High School in 1972 and Chattanooga State Community College in subsequent years with an associate degree in computer programming. She was a computer systems programmer for Provident Insurance for the bulk of her career, while completing her career with retirement from IBM in 2008. Debbie was a member of the White Qak Baptist Church.

Her spiritual heart was focused on supporting ministries that sponsored Jewish immigrants who wished to relocate to Israel from all parts of the world, and was constant and faithful to that cause. She also unselfishly devoted much of her time and energy to caring for her parents, and was often the first to stand up and volunteer to support other family members and friends as the need arose. Debbie was tireless in this regard. She also loved nature, and delighted in feeding and caring for the critters living in the vicinity of her home. She was a dog lover.

The family would like to express their thankfulness and appreciation to the various members of the Erlanger medical staff who dedicated themselves to Debbie’s care for their kindness, responsiveness, determination, and formidable expertise. They were incredible. We also extend our appreciation to the neighbors and other friends who supported Debbie and us with such love and caring during this time.

Debbie’s life will be celebrated at the Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace on Monday, May 6, 2019. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM, with the service to follow at 2 PM. Interment will be at the Hamilton Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the hospice organization of the contributor’s choice.
