Charles Edward Steele

Charles Edward “C.E.” Steele, 99, of Chattanooga, was granted his angel wings on Thursday, October 15, 2020 in a local healthcare facility. He was a loving husband, father and papaw. Mr. Steele served in the U.S. Navy and worked at Sears Roebuck as a Sales Manager until retirement. After retirement he decided to attain his real estate license and also had a chance to fly a plane. He was an avid fisherman. He loved to garden and always had the most beautiful rose bushes. He was of the Baptist faith and long-time member of Red Bank Baptist Church. A member of the Red Bank Lions Club (he loved when it was time for selling pecans). He was a Mason and CONTACT volunteer. Mr. Steele was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Steele, son, Donald Edward Steele, parents, Orce Steele and Precious Allen Steele, sisters, Aileen Wells and Amanda Jean Prince. He is survived by his loving daughter, Jo Ann "Jodi" (Ricky) Gray, grand-daughter, Emily (Jeffrey) Gray-Simmons, grandson, Austin Cody Gray and great-granddaughters, Ariya Claire Gray and Lily Simmons. Several wonderful nieces and nephews. Special Friends, "The Girls", Ruth Shrum, Sherry Thompson, Hazel Tucker and Renee. A graveside service will be held in the Chattanooga National Cemetery, Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 1:00 PM with Hoyt Samples officiating .
