Tribute

Charles Kenneth Peek, 79, of Chattanooga, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 31, 2021.

Charles was born on June 22, 1942 to the late Charles Edward Peek and Myrtle Garren Peek of Rosalie, AL. Charles graduated from Pisgah High School in 1960, and went on to join the Alabama Army National Guard. He proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Combat Engineer at Fort Polk, LA (a.k.a. “Tigerland”).

After moving to Chattanooga, Charles married Charlotte McRoy in 1964. He was a loving and devoted husband and father to their three children, along with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Charles retired as a manager from Combustion Engineering Company’s CE unit, known for building nuclear reactors. And then in 1980, Charles accomplished his dream of owning his own business. He opened Red Bank Aluminum Products, where he and Charlotte built a successful business together spanning over three decades.

In 2012, Charles retired from Red Bank Aluminum and spent most of his time enjoying family, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, and selflessly serving the community through the Red Bank Lions Club and Signal Mountain Masonic Lodge. He attended Woodland Heights Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles And Myrtle Peek; brothers, William Richard Peek and Wayne Peek; an infant sister, Rachel; and sister-in law, Joyce McRoy.

Scott Peek (Therese); daughter, Stephanie Shelton (Craig); two sisters, Wilma Echols (John Warner) and Judy Patterson (Ronald) all of Chattanooga; brother, Jimmy Peek (Darlene) of Pisgah, Alabama; and sister-in-law, Jeanene Peek (Richard) of Lafayette, Georgia; brothers-in law, Bill McRoy (Gail) and Ronnie McRoy, both of Chattanooga; seven grandchildren: Charles Joshua Shelton (named after his grandfather), Jacob Shelton, Izzy Peek, Brody Peek, Sydney Peek, Logan Howze, Garrett Howze; one great-grandchild, Victoria Howze; and many loved cousins, nieces, and nephews.
