Charles Frederick Bishop, 78, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2021 surrounded by his wife. He was preceded in death by his father, Will Bishop, mother, Carrie Bishop, brother, Jerry Bishop, sister, Mary Ann Crissman, son, Allan Bishop, and nephews, Tim Bishop and Wayne Miles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Linda Bishop of Chattanooga; brother, William Bishop (Alene) of Graysville, TN; daughter, Laura Taylor (Greg) of Hixson; sons, Eddie Brown (Elizabeth) of Ooltewah, Tracey Bishop of Lookout Valley; grandson, Matthew Taylor of Chattanooga, grand-daughters, Ashley Berry, Jessica Taylor of Chattanooga; great-grandson, Isaiah Berry of Chattanooga, nephews: Mark, Mike, and Chris Bishop of Graysville; great nephews: Scottie Miles (Michelle) and Dalton Miles of Coulterville.

Charlie worked at Volunteer Garage for 27 years and became the Garage Manager where he helped many employees who parked there. He also worked for Andy Trotter Pontiac, the City of Chattanooga and Walmart.

Charlie loved coaching the North Chattanooga Church of God men’s softball team and traveling to many tournaments, going to the Rhea County Golden Eagles football game with his son Alan, and watching the Tennessee Vols football and Lady Vols basketball games on TV. He served many years in the Hixson Lions Club. Charlie loved God and his church and was a member of The Ministry Center. He served as a Greeter for the church at the former location in Hixson. He drove the church bus along with his friend Gary Webb, for many years when the church was located at Market Street in North Chattanooga. Charlie loved God, his church, his family, and people. He never met a stranger and he was quick to greet you with a beautiful smile and a handshake or a hug. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by many loving family members and countless friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at The Ministry Center, 2929 Hamill Road, in the church chapel, with services at 6:00 p.m. by Pastor Jimmy Talley. We would like to thank the staff and nurses of Kindred Hospice for their compassion and care.
