Betty B. Rothberger, 95, of Signal Mountain passed on June 3, 2019, at her home surrounded by family. She was born April 6, 1924, in Atlanta, GA. She met Earl Rothberger at a fraternity party at Georgia Tech and they were married when she was eighteen (18) years old on February 12, 1943. She lived a life of love, glorifying God with her husband of 76 years, family, friends, church and community. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church and Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. Along with her husband, she was a volunteer at Habitat for Humanity, enjoyed gardening, tennis, travel and hosting affairs. Chicken tetrazinne was her go to crowd pleaser. She was known to correct the misuse of singular nouns with plural verbs and vise versa, substituting an adjective for an adverb and it was cataclysmic to confuse lie and lay. She was predeceased by her parents, Ethel and Hamilton Gregory Blasingame, and her sister, Beverly (John) Godown. She is survived by her husband, Earl Rothberger, her two sons, Earl (Susan) Rothberger Jr., and Mark (Faye) Rothberger, grandchildren include Rand (Lisa) Rothberger, Elisabeth Rothberger, Mary Catherine (Marc) Bales and Kelly Rothberger and numerous other great grandchildren. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. After 76 years, her marriage to Earl has not ended, it has been interrupted for a short period of time. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, 2019 at 2pm in the Marr Chapel of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church. A visitation will follow immediately following the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, TN 37415. 423-877-3524.
