Tribute

Bettye W. Gross, 90, of Soddy Daisy, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2020. She was a lifetime member of Woodland Park Baptist Church and retired from Dupont. She loved gardening and had more than a green thumb. Writing letters to friends and family was a great joy to her and reading them made you feel like you were right next to her while telling her story. She never met a stranger and loved to sing hymns with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Gross Sr.; parents, Mary E. and William Franklin Wooden, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Eunice Thomason and Winnifred Chadwick. Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Ray (Gwendolyn) Gross, Jr., daughters: Debbie Gross, Anita Mitchell and husband, Rodney, and Amy Gross; grandchildren, Christa (Mitch) Norman, Micah (Linzi) Mitchell, Alicia (David) Re, Bridget (Mike) Kemp and Veronica Sumrall; great-grandchildren: Rhett, Claire, Charlie, Ella, Eli, Riley, Blakely, Isaiah, Roman and Lottie; brother, Hugh Wooden; sister, Frankie Bradley. Special thank you to Mom’s caregivers Janet “Red” , Evelyn, Deb and Marlene. Visitation will be 10:00-12:00 Saturday with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 pm in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with Rev.
