Aurelia Anne Stringer Johnson, 82, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, finished the race marked out for her when she went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on July 24, 2022. Anne was born on August 14, 1939, in Baxley, Georgia, to parents Willie Guy Stringer and Ruby Reynolds Stringer. She attended Douglas Country High School in Douglasville, Georgia and has delighted in friendship with her Class of 1957 friends for her entire adult life! Anne married James (Jimmy) Edward Johnson on November 27, 1958.
Anne was a faithful caregiver for most of her adult life. She invested in her two daughters, her husband and both her Mother and Mother in law and Aunt in the various stages where they needed full time caregiving. She also worked outside her home in different seasons with Simmons Bedding, Camp Fire, Inc., Suntrust Bank and Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church. Anne was also involved in multiple creative “consultant” business endeavors.
Anne was a follower of Jesus Christ and met him as Lord and Savior in her early 40’s. She has been a member and layperson serving in multiple churches over the last 40 years: Highland Park Baptist (Conyers, GA), Eastwood Baptist (Conyers, GA), Cedar Springs Presbyterian (Knoxville, TN) and Signal Mountain Bible Church (Signal Mountain, TN).
Anne loved children, laughing loudly, games of all kinds, themed parties, singing, telling stories, reading books, creating colorful art, sending & receiving cards in the mail, writing poetry and name puzzles, photography and scrapbooking, and preparing and EATING all kinds of delicious foods.
Anne is preceded in death by her husband Jimmy and has been waiting to see him in Heaven again for the last 37 years!
She is survived by children, Lea Kelly and husband Damon, of Signal Mountain, TN; and Nikki Bryant and husband Demarcus, of Addison, TX; by grandchildren, Taylor Kelly and wife Ashley, of Nashville, TN; Trent Kelly and wife Meghan, of Brooklyn, NY; and Trey Kelly of Signal Mountain, TN; and 2 great-granddaughters; Emma and Abby Kelly; her half brother, David Monroe; her sister-in-law, Sarah Stringer and numerous other nieces and nephews, her extended family Garry Marlow and Rhonda Rigsbee. A great cloud of friends are left behind who have been cheering her on to the finish line! She is preceded in death by her brother Lamar and her parents and other extended family who “raised her”.
Visitation will be held from 5-7PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Signal Mountain Bible Church, with a service to follow at 7PM, with Rev. Jimmy Davis officiating. A Graveside service will be held Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 11:30AM in the Green Meadow Memorial Garden Cemetery in Conyers, Georgia.
