Raymond Edward Gross, Sr., age 90 of Soddy Daisy, went to be with the Lord on November 17. Mr. Gross worked 42 years as carpenter and the head of lock & key and roofing at DuPont. He was a lifetime member of Woodland Park Baptist Church, a representative of the Constitutional Convention, and an avid farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Polk and Bertie King Gross. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Bettye Wooden Gross; son Ray Gross Jr and wife Gwendolyn; daughters, Debbie Gross, Anita Mitchell and husband Rodney, and Amy Gross; grandchildren, Christa Norman, Micah Mitchell and Alicia Re; great grandchildren, Rhett, Claire and Charlie Norman, Ella and Eli Mitchell, and Riley Anne Re; brothers, Bill Gross and wife Barbara and Robert Gross; sisters, Evelyn Smith, Jean Hale and husband Jimmy and Nina Brandon. Visitation will be Monday 11am until 1pm, with the funeral service to follow at 1pm in the Chapel of Lane Funeral Home on Ashland Terrace, Reverend Rodney Mitchell, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memorial Gardens East. In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Raymond’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzfdn.org.
