Lura Lee Kerr, of Chattanooga, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017. She was 103 years old.
Lura Lee was a lifelong resident of eastern Tennessee, growing up in Dunlap and the Sequatchie Valley and then living her adult life in the Chattanooga area. Lura Lee raised her identical twin daughters before working for decades for Provident in Chattanooga. She was a strong woman who saw great changes in the world since her birth in 1913, and her resolve, kindness, and toughness were demonstrated throughout her life. Lura Lee was a loyal and supportive wife, mother, sister, friend and colleague, and she will be missed by many.
Lura Lee was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Fred; her daughter, Jane Wall; her mother and father, EP and Una Johnson; and her siblings, Leland Johnson, Victor Johnson and Treva Martin.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Morris, her son-in-law Mike Wall; her grandchildren: Andy Wall and wife Lita of New York, NY, Jason Wall and wife Michelle of Middletown, DE, Laura Morris of New York, NY, and Tim Morris and wife Susan of Lake Bluff, IL; and great-granddaughters: Ann Stewart and Ruby Wall, and Catherine, Avery and Samantha Morris.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Lane Funeral Home and have a service at 11:00 am, and then have a graveside service at 12:00 pm at the Johnson-Lewis Cemetery at 1316 Old State Highway 28 in Dunlap, TN.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be made in Lura Lee’s name to the Central Church of Christ in Chattanooga or a charity close to your heart.
