Charles Edward Hester, of Hixson, went to be with the Lord surrounded by loving family on January 10, 2018. He was born September 21, 1931 in Jackson, TN and graduated from Jackson High School in 1950. He served in the United States Airforce during the Korean Conflict where he was stationed in Okinawa. He attended Tennessee Technical University where he met and married Sarah F. Harris in 1955. After earning a degree in electrical engineering, he worked for TVA for over 30 years.
He was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. Hester II; and mother, Gertrude Hicks.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah F. Hester; sister-in-law, Betsy Cronan (Billy) of Chattanooga; children, Karen Parks (Ted) of Nashville and Kandace Turner (Mathew) of Knoxville; grandchildren: Daniel Hester (Lauren) of Memphis, Kaitlyn Gillum (Brandon) of Xenia, OH, Michael Hester of Nashville, Ransom Barnes of Knoxville, Charles Barnes of Knoxville, Benjamin Parks of Nashville and Jacob Parks of Nashville; great-grandchild, Charles Edward Hester; nephews, Jeff Cronan (Cindy) of Chattanooga and David Cronan (Colleen) of Lexington, KY.
He was a strong man of faith and was a long time member of the Church of Christ: Arlington Church of Christ (Knoxville), East Brainerd Church of Christ and Red Bank Church of Christ (Chattanooga, TN). He loved God, his family and his country.
Funeral services are 2:00 pm Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace with Minister Steve Lusk officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 pm Saturday and 1:00-2:00 pm Sunday at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace, www.lanefh.com, 877-3524.
